How these numbers are picked
Uniformly at random, from crypto.getRandomValues — the browser's
cryptographically secure source, not Math.random — with the matrix read
from our game registry so the pools are always the ones in force today. There is no
weighting towards numbers that are "hot", "cold" or "due", because no such thing exists
in a fair draw.
The numbers are drawn with rejection sampling rather than a modulo, which is the detail almost every implementation gets wrong, and that is tested rather than asserted.
We draw 6 from 49, then 1 Bonus from the same machine, which is why they can never repeat a main number.
Does picking your own numbers help?
Not for your chance of winning — that is fixed by the matrix at 1 in 13,983,816 however you choose. It can change what you win.
